Several installation options

  • You’re replacing thermostatic valves

Replace your current thermostatic valves in two steps. Thermostatic valves have a numbered scale (usually from 1 to 5).
    1. Unscrew the existing thermostatic valve.
    2. Screw on the new Netatmo Smart Radiator Valve.
  • You’re replacing manual valves

Manual valves for radiators can only switch the heating on or off and do not have a numbered scale (the standard scale generally goes from 1 to 5).
You should call a professional if you want to replace a manual valve.

What is a free-flow radiator? Should I install a smart radiator valve on this type of radiator?

A free-flow radiator is a radiator that must always be left open to allow hot water to flow through it. This type of radiator is typically found in a living room or hallway. Controls should not be added to this kind of radiator as it could damage the heating system. Therefore, a Smart Radiator Valve should not be installed.
